2015年より、DJ活動を開始。DJ活動を初めてまもなくから東京での様々な有名クラブ、レセプションパーティー、音楽フェスティバル等で活動している。
2019年にニューヨーク、ブルックリンでのラジオストリーム、Half-MoonBKで初の日本人アーティストとしてマンスリーレジデントを勤めた経験も。その後も点々と海外活動を続け、2025年1-2月の約2ヶ月、タイツアーを開催し成功を収めた。
2022年5月からBeat Makerとして琴奏者AsukaとのYY project Kを始動。Producerとしての活動の幅を広げている。
個人名義でも楽曲制作活動を行っており、2022年9月にFloyd Lavine の創立するベルリンを拠点とするレーベルAfrican Talesから”Tmbt 2019”をリリース。
その後もリリースを続け、2025年5月にRed Bull主催、世界で第二回目に開催された、主にRed Bull BC One決勝戦に使用する楽曲制作をするRed Bull BC One Beat Camp Japan2025に選出され、参加。

Katimi Ai is a performing artist from Tokyo, Japan. Born of Japanese and Nigerian descent, Katimi spent her youth in her studies and found love in arts with influence from both of her parents ―having a father managing a bar and a mother playing western radio shows at home, music had always followed her. After finishing her studies, she has decided to pursue her passion in music professionally.
In 2015, Katimi followed suit and kicked off her career; with her unique look and charismatic appeal, she quickly became the talk of the town in Tokyo.
In January 2019, Brooklyn based radio station HALFMOON BK tapped Katimi to be a part of their eclectic roster of resident DJs, the first from Tokyo, Japan. After that, Katimi continued her overseas activities.
In January to February 2025, She held a DJ tour in Thailand for almost 2 months.was successfully ended.
Katimi has also been producing music.
In 2022 She has joined a program called “YY project K“ in which she collaborates as a beat maker with Koto player Asuka.
In September 2022, she released her own debut track “Tmbt 2019” on African Tales, a record label founded by Berlin-based South African Floyd Lavine.
In May 2025, Katimi joined Red Bull BC One Beat Camp Japan2025 as one of the producers which make music used by Red Bull BC One World Final basically. She was chosen as a participant by Red Bull.
Katimi has been releasing tracks as YY, also on her own name.
