卓越したスキルと独自の世界観、そして10年以上に及ぶ活動で、カナダのエレクトロ ニックミュージックシーンのキーパーソンとなったMike Shannon。
キッチナー、オンタリオで育ち、15歳からDJを始めたMikeはアシッドハウス、テクノといったサウンドを原点に、様々な音楽に触れることで今日の研ぎ澄まされたプロダクションスキルを築き上げていく。アーティスト仲間と結成したPulse Productionsと して手掛けてきたパーティではKevin Yost、Panty Tec (Zip)、Boo Williams、Slamといった数々の有名アーティストを招聘するなど、地元キッチナーのシーンを作り上げていった。
1999年には自身のレーベルとして立ち上げた〈Cynosure Recordings〉からはこれまでに、Mike自身の作品はもちろん、Dead Beat、Mossa、Pirr Bucciといったアーティスト達 の作品を発表してきていて、その実験的でありながらもキャッチーなサウンドは、現在 国際的に評価されている。
ドイツ、ベルリンを拠点とする現在は、自身のレーベルはもちろんのこと、様々な有名レーベルからリリースを重ねてきており、プロデューサーとしても、DJとしてもその突出したスキルとセンスでもって国際的なシーンにおける確かな存在感を放っている。

Making his start in the southwestern corridor of Ontario, DJ/producer Mike Shannon quickly
made his way to the frontlines of the genre’s cultural ascension.
Then only in his mid teens, Mike Shannon’s cobra-quick mixing technique and a particular Deep Techno house selection leaning on the Detroit/Chi-town sound palette had already established him as one of the brightest stars in a constellation of respected luminaries. With a reputation growing in a parallel to the guest-star brilliance that heralded an ever ongoing musical evolution, Mike Shannon became drawn into the orbit of reductionist labels based in midwestern United States. This soon developed into association with fellow Canadian pioneers Richie Hawtin’s “Plus 8” label, an experience that would quickly foster his own curatorial ambitions.
This pivot to becoming a label curator led to the creation of two imprints, Cynosure and Haunt Recordings. Both entities provided jazz infused electronic minimalism that in subsequent years have rede fined the topography of the Minimal Techno genre. A frequent collaborator of iconic artists within his field, and strong proponent of recent modular synthesis technology, Shannon’s own productions have imposed an unceasing standard on the beating heart of house and techno. Through innovative timbres, the subtle shading of themes both recognizable and exotic, Mike Shannon’s adroit technical acumen and relentless artistry comes from the rare and beautiful synthesis of simultaneously “living” and “making” art on his own terms.
